Hey All! Winter is getting real here in the Mount Washington Valley, especially since last week we received 12 inches of snow and its getting us all super psyched to get out and enjoy some of the sports we love most! Part of being able to enjoy being outdoors in winter is having the right equipment and being prepared for the elements. Be it ice axes, skis or snowshoes, having the right tools for the conditions is important. The same is to be said for the clothing we put on to keep us warm and dry. We’re psyched to have Outdoor Research as our headlining sponsor this year and we wanted to give you a little taste of what they’ve got to offer!

While you’re getting after it on the ice you’re going to want a glove that’s not only going to keep you warm, but allow you the dexterity to use your tools, place your screws and clip your rope, all while also keeping you dry! Check out the Extravert Glove! This glove boasts a soft shell stretch fabric which is not only weather and wind resistant, but highly breathable. It is insulated with a thermal wool blend lining which will keep your hands warm and is extremely durable for seasons of use. On top of being warm, breathable, and dry the palm is wrapped with leather which increases the grip on your tools and will keep you going all day! We love these gloves and we think you will too! Outdoor Research will be demoing them at Ice Fest this year, so be sure to stop in and try them out!

Next, you’re going to need a hefty jacket to keep you nice and toasty out there this winter while you’re belaying your partner or waiting for the next climb. We’d like to present you with the Virtuoso Jacket! This is a puffy like no other! With 650 fill down insulation and the lightweight/water resistant fabric, the Virtuoso is perfect for those cold belays and keeping you warm when you get back to camp from a long day crushing hard. The adjustable hood fits over your helmet and the jacket has two zippered hand warmer pockets, one of which doubles as a stuff sack so you can carry it with you on the climb, or use it as your pillow for the night. This is a must have for those deep chill days and nights. You might even have the opportunity to win your own at this year’s Ice Fest! Check in with the folks at the demo table to see what this year’s prize will be!
