We are thrilled to announce that Jonathan Griffith, internationally acclaimed photographer and mountaineer, will be giving a presentation at the Saturday evening events at the Theatre in the Woods. This show will likely be sold out, so be sure to get there early to guarantee yourself a seat. We also want to give a huge thank you to NorthConwayLodging.com for sponsoring his trip over here! Jonathan lives in Chamonix, France – one of the most beautiful climbing destinations in the world and the subject of much of his work. With easy access to some of the worlds best skiing, ice climbing, and rock climbing Jonathan has truly built an ideal life for himself, something that we are sure to hear about in his presentation.
Using his home in the alps as a jumping-off point, Jonathan has climbed extensively in Patagonia, the Himalaya, and Alaska. In the last couple of years he has gone on expeditions with some of the biggest names in modern mountaineering. To just name a few, Jon accompanied Ueli Steck and Simone Moro on an eventful trip to Everest, Colin Haley up challenging mixed terrain in Chamonix, and, local boy, Kevin Mahoney on a recent trip to the Karakoram. For any one person to be at the top of their field is an impressive achievement but Jonathan, as both a mountaineer and an alpine photographer, stands as one of the world’s best. The Mount Washington Valley Ice Fest is supremely lucky to have him on board as the headlining presenter for the evening events on Saturday, February 7th.
