This is an advanced level course for experienced climbers ready for the “sharp end.” Participants will gain incredible skills and get individualized instruction from guest guides on how to lead ice.
Leading is very rewarding but can also be dangerous and scary if you are not prepared technically, physically and mentally. On the first day, we’ll cover advanced anchor & belay systems, racking of gear, rope management, and route finding while on a multi-pitch climb. Day two will deal with placing screws from awkward stances, using alternate protection systems, and focusing on protecting the climb, not the move. We will discuss advanced anchor & belay systems, single and double rope management, descending options and route finding while on multi-pitch climbs.
