Rita Strauss

Rita Strauss (she/they) is a rock and ice guide working for Alpine Endeavors, primarily in New York’s Gunks and Adirondacks. Several years ago, she transitioned from a career as a workers’ rights attorney to pursue her passion for climbing.

As an AMGA Certified Apprentice Rock Guide, Rita has taught the rock and ice climbing movement, helped clients transition from the gym to the outdoors, guided classic multi-pitch routes, and instructed experienced climbers seeking to hone advanced technical skills. She strives to provide an experience that is individually tailored to her clients goals.

When not climbing, she spends time with her kids, gardens, cooks and enjoys tinkering and problem-solving. She volunteers with several organizations to expand access to rock and ice climbing for LGBTQ+ communities.
